What are CCT and ART?

• CCT – Caries Control Technique
• ART/SMART – Atraumatic Restorative Treatment

CCT/ART/SMART are proven dental techniques to prevent cavities and stop dental decay. They are based on more than 40 years of research, are safe and inexpensive treatments to promote oral health.

This technique requires:

• NO shots
• NO drilling
• NO recovery time
• NO lost time from school
• NO sedation
• NO medications

HPS has utilized CCT and Art/Smart practices in public schools across South Carolina treating thousands of patients since 2018. These treatments have saved patients from having to experience painful root canals, crowns, and drillings, and have saved millions of dollars in cost for parents and/or Medicaid.

The primary key to dental health is early preventative care, and the CCT/IRT program allows HPS to provide this early care in a school setting allowing the student to remain in class while receiving optimal dental healthcare at an affordable rate.

HPS has been at the forefront of providing preventive dental health in public settings for 20 years. HPS works extensively to train hygienists for and develop best practices for South Carolina public health and dental health programs. HPS experts have also consulted numerous state leaders in South Carolina and elsewhere in preventative dental health, assisting lawmakers in developing dental care and public health strategies.
